Strange insect, what is it?

Can anyone identify this little insect? It has a long double tail as you can see.

i agree with mayfly,something i would love to be able to see but never have,i'm envious :D

Thank you, I have found them before in my garden but never realized that this is a mayfly. Since it is may, it is right on time ;)

Oh my goodness! Here in Northern Ohio they are often so plentiful that they must literally be cleaned off the sidewalks and streets with shovels. We had a power failure one year when they shorted out insulators in an electric substation.
