superb pictures, looking at these and past photos ,

in my opinion you must be one off the best bird photographers around...

Thanks, everybody.

Indeed, we have a lot of very colorful birds in our islands. When the land bridges connecting us to the Asian mainland disappeared after the last Ice Age, at least 180 species (out of the almost 600) evolved into unique ones, endemic to the Philippines.

It's just too sad that many of these are now threatened with extinction because of loss of habitat, and trapping/hunting pressure...:-(
