Sandy and Marie asked for more from my garden. I know dandelions are weeds - but I like them!

I took these using the old G series trick of seeting to manual focus and then rotating the lens barrel by hand to get extreme close-ups. I'm sure it'll wreck the camera eventually but I've been doing it for 2 years and the results are worth the risk.

And if you wreck it you're that much closer to the 30D.  Lovely macros Damian very sharp. Are they gone by dandelions by chance? I remember as a child picking them and blowing the seed pods all over much to the chargrin of my Dad, he knowing that there would be twice the crop in the lawn next year.

they are very lovely and unusual patterns Damian
the designs are wonderful

(taking aside I root them out :() .....I love the dandeloins, for their colour and beauty especially when seen in a photograph

the flowers were already wild
here you show the wildness is spreading and going to their heads
...

they are very nice close ups

(good luck with the new camera)
(Sandy's idea )

ha ha ha

if only that happened with the beautiful flowers we want repeated over and over in the garden
it's always the weeds which multiply and spead themselves around, without much help from us humans
;)

as kids we blew the fluffy seeds off the stem and said: 'he loves me, he loves me not' .......'he loves me. he loves me not'

puff
............... nearly out of wind

the last seed told the story , whether love was true
(or not)

on a more sober note
:D
>>>
Congratulations to the team
and all connected
I think you will be happy about Liverpool's win Damian:confused:

:D:cool::D

I don't understand why this would wreck it. How else would you focus in Manual???

Thanks everyone. My kids spend most of their free time in the garden and help nature spreadby doing just what Sandy and Marie talked about, except we used to say you could tell the time by the number of blows it took to remove all the seeds.

The G3 lens isn't designed to have a manual focusing lens as you would find on an SLR. Turning the lens by hand is not something the camera is meant to allow- but you can do it. Occassionaly it will cause a malfunction and the lens will lock in the extended position. Essentially when I do this I am forcing a motor to turn that isn't designed to be turned by hand.

Sharp close-ups. The structure of the flower is displayed quite nicely in these pictures.
