Memory Card Download problem

Hi All.

This is the first problem I've had with my G3 in the 3 years I've had it. I connect my camera to my laptop with a USB. I can see the pictures in the preview screen but it's not allowing me to download the pictures. It looks like it's downloading the 1st picture and then it just goes straight to the folder I've set up for the batch of Photos I took but none have been downloaded.

I'm using ZoomBrowser. Has anyone had a similar problem? Help!

Thanks!

Sorry for the incorrect title Memory Card

I'm not sure of your problem. However, take the memory card out, put it into a USB card reader that someone has, and determine if the files can be accessed by their computer. If they CAN be read, it could be a camera connection, cord or software problem.

thanks ... I have another memory card at home. I'm going to test it out and see if I have the same problem tonight. I don't have a memory card reader ... but figured if worse came to worse I'll just run by a Wolf Camera or something.

I'll update once I've started testing ...

I'd recommend a card reader for all of your downloads. Faster, and easier.

Ditto! I have never even pulled the cable out of it's wrapper. I just find it too easy to use a card reader. ;)

Well I tested my other memory card and it worked. I put the original one back in the camera and the pictures uploaded this time. I have no idea why it worked because I didn't do anything differently.

Oh well ....

Thanks for the advice on the memory card reader ... how much are they?

single fromat card readers range from $10-25 USD. Multi format readers can start as low as that and go higher. If your computer supports USB 2.0, buy a HISPEED USB card reader. Although the Canon Powershot cameras do not support fast read/write to hispeed cards - 45X and greater, the data transfer rate to and from the computer is much faster than with the older USB 1 readers.

Like many others, I've always used card readers for the fastest read/writes of images. It acts as a fast removable drive on your PC.
