Alligators have killed 3 people here in the last week. I might start walking with a big stick now when I go out in the swamps alone.

His tail helps to find him on the log... Wouldn't like to step too close to that one ;-)a

Yes, apparently another was bit on her leg/foot as she was weeding her yard as well. I probably have the story wrong but it's something of that nature. Unfortunately, living in FL doesn't come without its dangers.

Yeah, cuz there is no way an alligator will get you if you have a big stick...LOL

Great shot of the guy on the log...What lens were you using (read, how close did you actually get)?...LOL

My 100-400. This shot is uncropped at 160mm. I am not Crocodile Dundee but I have been around them my whole life and think nothing of walking within 10 feet of one sunning himself. They never bother me. Swimming in their presence is a whole other story. I aint stupid.

#1 is a nice photo. Love the camo.
I have no problem with gators or crocs. I just won't go near them. :)

That first pic has him in full camoflauge with the reeds and the log. Great shot.

Fantastic shots! I lived in Texas for 5 years and I used to hike around swamps and I know what is the feeling of being close to a 'bug' like that! Now I live in Calgary, where instead of an alligator I can find moose and elk!!! Much nicer! ;)
If you can post a photo of an alligator with an opened mouth, it will be really nice!!! But don't risk yourself for doing that!

Yeah, use on of those not so needed close relatives for the "open mouth shot" bait...that would be a GREAT shot...LOL

Great shots Blue. The first one is excellent and the 3rd one you just posted is very good too. You know your environment but I imagine you would need a fair size stick to keep one of these at bay.

Good shots, BD. Some of the attacks were fairly close to us. It is mating season, so I try not to look like a sexy alligator.
