I took a small walk today because of the nice weather and saw this flower growing just off the side of a building here on campus. I liked the colors, so I tried to capture it.

I think you captured it very well. I too like the colours of a purple flower against the luminous green foliage.

You sure did capture it. Purple (as in this case) and red flowers just look so unreal sometimes against the deep green background. It is almost like they are screaming to have someone take their picture. Or that is just my weird imagination running on after a long day?!?

comp looks good, and colors would be great if the hilights were not blown out. Might be my monitor... but the center of the flower is way too bright.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm using a older CRT while my LCD is in for service. It looks fine here, but most likely that's because my monitor has the brightness turned down. I did notice that a lot of other images appear underexposed. I've tried the adobe gamma wizard about 100 times, but this monitor is hopeless, oh well.
