...a few flowers from my yard. Today I tried to adjust the aperture to produce a blur in the background. I even played a bit with layers before savin' the final result.

I've been workin' really hard to improve the results with my lil G5 in anticipation of upgrading in the near future...any and all C&C is appreciated. I am motivated to improve and visiting here has been a big help....I'm well aware my end results aren't nearly as impressive as most of the photos I see here...but I'll get there. Thanks in advance for peeking.........

They're not too bad. I think composition is something I would be working on. For instance in the first photo I don't like seeing all those dead leaves and twigs (I think that's what they are) in the background. I would probably frame or crop a little tighter like this:

As a G3 owner I do know it can be difficult to achieve decent bokeh with these point and shoot cameras. With these P&S cameras, if you want the best bokeh, I find you have to get as close to the subject as possible. I tend to do this while at the tele-end of the lens. I'm sure when you finally get your DSLR and macro lens you'll find you have much more creative freedom in that respect.
