...or in other words...what generated my interest in photography.

For several years now I've been very active in moderating a site much like this one...but with a focus on marine aquariums. As I became active in the hobby I was inspired to attempt to produce the quality of photos some of my fellow hobbyists were producing. I like to think I've been able to take some fairly decent aquarium photos...as a result I now have a desire to branch out and expand my photography skills.

The following are examples of some of my aquarium related photos.

First is a maroon clown that is the sole fish resident in a 55 gal display...

This shot is one of my purple firefish...a small ...peaceful...but very colorful little speciman that is full of personality.

Next is the camera hog of my collection...this spotted goby will strike a pose whenever I'm near the display with camera in hand...

This is the featured speciman of my 100 gal display...my great nieces and nephews all call him "Dory" after the star of a very popular movie...but he was purchased before the hit movie and is actually named Jesse...as in Jesse James...

Last for now is a shot of a mandarian dragonette and my spotted goby...one of my favorite photos to date...

Like I mentioned the desire to take marine aquarium photos is what motivated me...hopefully ya'all like the results and hopefully in the future I'll be able to provide a more diverse subject matter ... 'till then C&C is much appreciated...especially in regard to my other posts where I try to branch out and photograph items other than my captive friends.

I think you are on track with your photos. They look great! I know how difficult it is to take photos of fish in a tank, not something I have ever got right, does not matter how many times I try taking photos of my fish.

I love your pictures. I want to take some of fish...they are so colorful. Not to hijack thread, but to respond to how I got started...Back in 2001, I got the fever when I bought my first orchid at 50% off, and wasn't sure it would bloom or what it would look like. I was so enchanted with it I wanted to take pictures and document it. I was working at NASA at the time and it was pretty stressful and I found it very relaxing to take pictures. I entered that pic in my first show...and the journey since has been very transforming and one of the greatest joys of my life.

Thanks for the positive feedback...I agree aquarium photography can be tough. But so can any other subject when you are a newb and strugglin' to catch the learning curve.

Not a hijack at all...I feel the same way. I was so determined to shoot&share aquarium related photos...and now I'm finding a whole world of photography to explore with that same passion. The wife and I discussed the new camera purchase last night and I think there will soon be a new toy.

Very nice photos of mighty colourful fish. I really like that last one as well. You're right about him striking poses - he's looking directly at the camera! Quite amusing. :)

Thanks for the input...hopefully in the future I'll be able to improve on the photos.
