Wasn't aware of this rather elderly thread on windmills!

Hardly anyone knows about windmill heaven, The Canadian National Historic Windmill Centre in Etzikom, Alberta, Canada. Etzikom is a hamlet in a remote part of Alberta. Here are a couple of pics from this place.

Yeah, they are a kind of basket shape, or squirrel cage style. They are a bit reminiscent of the cylindrical fans found in some computers. I suppose somebody has the design all figured out and they probably work fine.

That must be some experience to wander around the Etzicom site.

And another one not far from me at Napton, Warwickshire. This one is in the garden of a private house and you can only get a shot of it from the road, some way away. Fortunately the sails and sun were in the right direction.

Found some time to wander the prairies. Weather was moving in, and managed to find this. All in all, a great late February day.
