Hi, I've seen this sandisk ultra II 2gb on ebay, and was wondering if you think its real or not. He's a UK seller, and the item seems to come in original case, and it seems to have lifetime warranty. Safe? Even if it is fake, how bad can it be? I mean even cheapy 2gb cards go for around £40, so if this goes for £25, surely its a bargain whatever?

But do you think this is legit or fake:

They are without doubt fake..

I am another victim of these "So called bargains" this week.

Bought a 4Gb Sandisk Ultra II card from a seller for £67. I must admit I either had the bargain of the year or they were fake.. Fake it was..:(

After 3 or 4 emails back and forth to the seller with proof he is selling fake cards I have scored a mini victory.

I have got a full refund from him, And also gave him such a fright about the legal implications he is committing has taken all his listings from eBay and turned a corner I believe.

For anyone interested these fake cards are absolutley perfect apart from some very minor differences, The main one being they have no serial number.

The second flaw is the speed of these cards, Only just over half the speed of the genuine Ultra II cards..:(

Thanks for the reply. But OK, let's say they fake. Where else can you get a 2gb compact flash for £15? (albeit not the fastest)

So useage, they seem fine? How about build etc. do they look genuine? If so, I may be tempeted.

Francis

For the money they are indeed fine and still very cheap.:D

But the fact of the matter is "they are not Sandisk Ultra II" as advertised..;)

Likewise... I got a Ultra II card very cheap. Its a fake.

It seems to work fine, not dropped any shots yet, and is genuinely a 2Gb card, but had I wanted a normal 2Gb card I'd have bought one. I don't like encouraging the fakers...

If I could find another brand 2gb card for the same price I would choose it over this fake - but for the money I can't! But yes, I do not really like the idea about encouraging fakers.

Would you estimate the speed at around 40x?

So we are now knowingly buying from counterfeiters who's sole intention is to riip you off?

And you think that if you get a bad card it will be replaced?
God forbid it fail with important photos on it.. but you know that's when it will if it isn't DOA.

Guys.. grow up a little and support an honest merchant. Good people are going out of business while money is thrown at dedicated theives.

And the saddest part is that Newegg is probably no more $ for the real thing.

I have 4 CF cards now, this fake, 2 256Mb cards, both Sandisk, one free from Canon with a rebate coupon, one bought at Jessops at time of buying camera and a 2Gb Microdrive. The 256mb cards are just standard CF cards, not Ultra II, Extreme III or by-god-its-scary IV. All are faster than this 2Gb fake card.

I bought it in good faith, sold to me as a Ultra 2 Sandisk, so I expect to receive an Ultra II Sandisk. I have reported the seller to Sandisk, and to Ebay/Paypal.

Although you maybe knew about these fake cards across the pond.. I didnt.
I have had my leg yanked and hell does the seller know about it, so much so he has taken his bat and ball home..:p

They may be cheap in your neck of the woods CDS but over here still quite expensive.. Any savings always helps..;)

The only time I have been burned on Ebay was with a Sandisk Extreme III 4GB CF. It was a little cheaper then the rest. When I got it, the guy had printed the label on his printer(the worst I have seen) and stuck it on. The codes on the side told me it was a 1GB Lexar. Luckily I had paid with a credit card and the buyer protection wiped it off my credit.
