-!!BEWARE!!- Fake Sandisk Ultra II Cards

Sucker ... I should have known better ... got a fake from ebay ...

I have come acroos these fake Sandisk crude labeled as 1 GB and really being 512 MB. And they are lighter too. The "! GB" part on the label looks like a cutout with no wavy lines behind.

Well I found out I got bought another one! Updated original post for those who are interested!

eBay sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers (I used to sell my art fairly regularly on eBay and kept up with the changes when the head personnel changed) so I hope you all are leaving negative feedback for these sellers. Plus, you should leave LOW DSR's (Detailed Seller Ratings-->the one through 5 stars). eBay's newest policy is that you get kicked out of eBay if your DSR's fall below a certain level. Of course, they will probably just start again under a new name, but a least they will have to start over with feedback numbers as well. Do everything else too, of course! But don't underestimate the power of negative FB and low DSR's under the new management. eBay is becoming more and more pro-buyer and anti-seller (I have almost given up selling my little art pieces due to all of the changes that take away power from sellers). From what I've heard and seen you should never buy any equipment or cards from Singapore etc.

I purchased a Sandisk Ultra III on the Korean market not too long ago and it seems OK. It's quick to clear the buffer and transfers plenty fast for my needs. Not sure if I got duped or not, but I paid US$80 for a 32GB SDHC. I guess it all comes down to "does it fit my needs?" I've bought from the same vendor at the electronics market in Seoul and never had issue. I'd give them a whirl if they could produce a 32GB CF for me, but they all look at me like I'm an idiot for even asking if such a beastie exists. (they are 6 months or so behind in capacities typically.)

What about the obviously generic cards on eBay? I did a search recently on class 6 SDHC cards and it returned a lot of results for cards that weren't branded at all. So they weren't pretending to be what they weren't (at least not in regards to brand). I have a genuine Sandisk 4GB class 2 SDHC card, but would like to upgrade to a class 6 and keep the other for backup.
What do you guys think?

No one should buy any memory of any kind on ebay
memory for cameras... memory for computers... memory for _________ .... memory is an important aspect of all those devices, and it's not worth the few dollars you'll save.
Sure, there are legit vendors... but it's too much like playing russian roulette with a 6-shooter holding 5 bullets

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

A friend of my niece's who is an Army photographer in Iraq got totally ripped off for $4,000 on Ebay. Have avoided that site ever since.

yeah, I only buy my memory from places that I absolutely trust like Amazon, adorama, beach camera, newegg and other similar popular sites that I know will own up to a mistake made.

I actually just ordered 2 32gb Sandisk Extreme cards from amazon earlier today, 50% off FTW! paid 33.36 for each card. I also always opt for the retail packaging, I just don't like the idea of the "frustration free" packages, there might be some serial number or something that I need to keep that is on the box or something else might get lost in transit. I'd rather be the one to open the factory box and toss it away if I don't need it.
