they were pretty bad, the cam had 125k shots on it and the lens' paint was definetly not new, but with those kinds of savings how can you go wrong

1DMkII over the 30D every day of the week. Remember the quote when they first came out "made of pure unobtanium"?

Ron the 30D is an excellent camera but in the back of your mind you have probably always wanted a Pro body. If you can live with 1 camera the funds should be pretty close to pick one up. I think theres a new listing on FM for a MKII right now.

If you are really set on the 1D series, i'd say still go for it. Just keep your eyes very wide open, Ron.

So, I had my sights set on a 30D. In fact, the moment I got paid for my 20D, I was going for it.

I just saw a deal where I could get a 1DMkII with <1k actuations (yes, that's just 1k!) for about $2000. Well, needless to say, I'm interested. I'm curious, though....what might I not like about the 1DMkII? What might be better about the 30D? I like the idea of making my lenses a tad wider. I like the idea of super intelligent predictive AF. I like that my weather sealed lenses would actually be weather sealed now. I also like that the 1DMkII could potentially last twice as long as the 30D (shutter). What about IQ, though? How much better would the dynamic range and tones be? I guess I want someone to make me believe I need a 1DMkII.

Whaddaya say, guys?

Just do it, Ronald. You'll sleep better at night.

See what you get for half-steppin' and lolly gaggin' over here asking us silly questions and wanting to know our opinions! You can NEVER pass up a good deal like that again, Ronald. That's a damn shame. Dammit. I would've been all over that. Oh well. Enjoy your 30D.

But I didn't pass it up! I posted, pm'ed, and e-mailed basically saying "I'LL TAKE IT!!!" I told him I could pay him immediately, etc. Just too late. He said he wouldn't have sold to me anyway, because he wanted to keep it in Cali. Oh well..my 30D shipped out today, hopefully.

I'm just bustin' yer chops, Ron. I'm sure another opportunity will present itself. I'm willing to bet before Summer's end you'll have a 1D. ;)
