Well, if I end up getting beaten by an angry crowd with my own camera, I'd rather have a 350D than a 1D

I echo your sentiments, Karl. It amazes me that so many guys bought the 1DM2 recently and seemingly not know what to do with them. If you have to ask yourself whether you need it, you probably don't.

I can think of many ways to spend $2700...35L and an 85mm Mk1 being one way. :D

To each his own though...

Hello,

Who is selling this camera? We could use a second 1D2. Perhaps I'll buy it first. :-)

I stated a while back, it's gone. Someone local (cali) called the guy and bought everything he had to sell, apparently. It was on FM.

OOooooooooookay. Another situation has arisen. I've basically got dibs, if I want it, on a 1DMkII. I've got my 30D. I love it, it's wonderful, and I've got a 35L on the way. Seems I couldn't be happier huh? But what about that 1DMkII? I've never really experienced a 1-series, but I think it could be to my advantage. It's got 36,000 clicks on it, and he wants $2,400, a 30D+cash, or hopefully my 30D w/grip and the 35L (at least that's what I've offered). You think that's fair? I was wondering if I could be happy with a 1DMkII and a 50 1.4 as opposed to the 30D combo. A 50 on a 1-series gives me 65mm. A 35 on a 30D gives me 56mm. Can 65mm work as a walkaround? I'm guessing it'd still be long.

Whaddaya say, guys?

You will be impressed with a 1 series body....no doubt about that...but you are going to be disappointed going from a 30D back to a 1DmkII....I think you mentioned liking that big display. Wait for a deal on a mkIIn....you will be much happier.

Eh...I imagine by the time the 1DMkIIN comes down in price a bit ($3k), I'll have earned more than enough money to buy one. Only problem is, I'll want something else! :p

I guess I'll just stick with the 30D and 35L...I love that lens, anyway.

Sounds to me like you settled for the 30D Ronald.. Get what you want it will make you a happier photographer. If the 30D is what you want then you are already happy. If you are happy and enjoy the body you have you ill use it more and love it more...

Well, see, here's the thing. I love the 35L. Just absolutely love it. However, to get the 1DMkII, I'd have to give it up (or another L), which I really don't want to do. Here's the other thing. I'd be giving up the huge LCD and picture styles, and some length on my longer lenses. I think the 1DMkIIN is for me, but I can't spend that kind of cash right now. Not really. I'd have to sell my 30D, my 35L (or like I said, another L), and probably one of my computers or something to make up the difference. I have $0 in "extra cash" right now. So, I guess because of that, right now is not the time to be thinking about $4,000 camera bodies. :-D

I think enjoying the 30D and saving up for the 1DMkIIN is the way to go.
