In my ongoing effort to make sure Ashley sees everything there is in the southwestern end of the U.S., I took her to Las Vegas last week. The main purpose of this trip was to have her pose for a photo that I got the idea for several years ago on my first visit to Valley of Fire, with Poodle Rock in the background:

Thanks again for the comments! I was happy the shots came out as well as I'd been hoping for the past three years that I've been wanting to do this... :D I've been thinking of having a 20x30 print made for a while now to see how it looks from a 20D, and that first one just might be the one I use...

Also, in case anyone was curious, Poodle Rock is one of a number of natural formations in Valley of Fire, a Nevada state park. This particular one stands about 150 or 200 feet tall. Here's a shot of it from a slightly different angle, that shows the poodle look just a little bit better:
