This shots about the balance that mothers have to make these days. Balancing work with being a mother. Must be natural for a mother to ponder on if she's doing the right thing going out to work. the shots about finding reassurance from the article.

I don't know what good composition is.... Sometimes for me composition has to do with a certain brightness or a certain coming to restness and other times it has to do with funny mistakes. There's a kind of rightness and wrongness and sometimes I like rightness and sometimes I like wrongness. Diane Arbus

Are you assuming the reader is a mother? I can't even say for sure if the reader is a woman.

check out the article she is reading.

that said, the message you are trying to get across might be more successful if you were closer to the newspaper.

Yes, there is a leap of imagination required but that is OK. Of course, she could have a rich hubby (or female equivelent!) and she's just off to buy shoes and is only on a bus because the Bentley is being serviced and the cab didn't arrive. The 'reality' is less important than the 'statement' often ;-)a

Yes a leap of imagination. I would go for the person to be a woman but is she a mother?
Does she work? perhaps she has just been to spend her husbands money at the shops.
Perhaps she is considering to go work.

Interesting photo.

Ah, but that sticker perhaps has a meaning too. Is it 'No Smoking'? 'Disabled seat only'? This image meanings can go on.

The messages in photographs should be subtle, they should be read. I don't think that people often take the time to read a photograph. It's a woman, i made it dark intentionally, that's an article that a mother would find interesting, reassuring even. I'd not have shot her reading anything else

It doesn't matter if she's a mother or not, the photo is not about her, it's not simply about the newspaper it's a small story.

Cheers

Another great "found" shot that can tell an interesting story. I like the that you've included enough empty seats around her to emphasize that she's on her way to work all alone. Nice.
