Is this a Racer? He's about 4 ft long - fast as lightning, very docile - loves to climb trees and look in my office window at me while I work. Taken with the 100 macro.

Can't help you with the ID Trent, but this is a very nice image. Lovely background colors and nice bokeh. Good job.

Here's a couple snaps I got of a blue racer if it helps. I was scanning the trees for hawks and almost stepped on this one.

Whats a deadly Australian fierce Snake doing in Michigan? I wouldn't worry about it, there are probably only a few around.

Don't know what kind of snake it is, but you got a nice shot of it. Personally, I would not have used the 100mm macro. I would use a much longer lens so I could stand way, way far away. You are much braver than I am!

Cool, It looks like a rat snake and I remember reading about the black variety, and if you read about their behaviour, there's something about them climbing tree's well enough to hunt.. There's also the black mountain king snake, but they have different color paterns around the head that is closer to a pale yellow and instead of solid white belly scales, it's more of a speckled patern. What region are you in.

Hi Trent,

It looks to me to be a racer. There are various colors of them around here and the old timers also call them "coachwhips". I've seen the black and silver ones out my way.
