Well so much for a sunny start - it wasn't to last.

#1 The first of the Northern Sports Car races was dry. Here's the mighty 5.5 litre V8 that runs in the Class B, C & D.

#2 Warm up for the fun cup started dry

#3 But by the end, the rain had started.

#4 It was proper wet by the time the NSSCC class A, E, F & G boys came out

#5 But the real rain was saved for the Fun Cup. Huge amounts of standing water and terrible visibility.

Only managed about 30 minutes (of 3 hours) before I'd had enough!

Any comments or feedback appreciated.

Cheers,

Simon.

Wow Simon I hope you've dried out!! I was hopeful for you in the morning but you seem to have got a proper soaking p.m.

Great pictures though - I particularly like the the last three from the Fun Cup - super action shots in appalling conditions. Looking forward to seeing some of your shots in Thursdays mag

Thanks John. They were all taken with a 1D and 300mm f4 L IS + 1.4 TC.

Cheers,

Simon.

Thanks Dave. The conditions really were terrible - more like November than May. I gave up after about 30 minutes or so of the Fun Cup - I had all of the shots I needed, and I was wet through with my boots starting to let in water. A hot cup of tea in front of the telly seemed far more appealing.

Cheers,

Simon.

Hi Simon
Have you dried out yet? ;) I'll not add a load of similar photos but will add this one. It's a good job you moved for the AEF race or you may have got even wetter :)

Twenty two cars off at that point on Saturday morning, and nothing while I'm there on Saturday afternoon. Shoot two races from their on Sunday, and someone goes off as soon I move away. Mind you, I'm glad I didn't get covered in stagnant water ;) :p .

Cheers,

Simon.

Sods law. It's suprising how much water collects in those tyres and I certainly wouldn't have like to be standing behind it either.

Nice capture Ian

The driver was OK by the way apart from being a bit pissed off as it happened on the last lap.

Cheers
Ian

A nice set Simon but i really like the last 3. True dedication in absoloutely foul conditions.

I was planning to go to Croft on Saturday but 1 look out of the window convinced me it was a bad idea. Sadly Brands Hatch on Sunday was just as awful.

Thanks Geoff. Funnily enough I thought repeatedly about what a bad idea it was on both Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon - particularly staying out in the rain for a 3 hour enduro!

Cheers,

Simon.
