Anyone seen this on a 20D before, or any camera. Just bought a 20D and after using it not even a day I have these kind of images randomly popping up in the bunch.

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'text/html' | Byte size: ZERO

Any help would be great, I think Im going to just exchange it for a new one since I just got it on friday.

Not convinced it's the card on this one. The image data isn't being corrupted as you can make out the shapes behind the streaked colour cast. I would still try formatting the card in the camera as coreypolis suggested before returning the camera though.

Looks like jpeg corruption to me.

Very common ( edit , almost always is more accurate) for a "colour cast" like this with the image viewable behind.
this one looks a bit different the way it has a "swiped" or smeared effect.

It can happen to files stored on a hard drive.

I found the following threads by searching for keyword "corruption"

Done so on the format and tried 3 different cards. Seems like something with the camera, just didnt know if anyone had seen this before. I did manage to get no bad images on one card, but no clue, One card is a 1gb SanDisk basic card the other is a 50X Kingston Elite 2gbcard. So two different brands and several bad images, Ive even left the cap on and shot the cap completely black and still had this weird pattern and other weird colors show up.

These are all RAW images .CR2 files straight off the compact flash card. ? Weird?

On JPEG's there is no issue, work fine in Large JPG mode, just get the issue in RAW.

My ISP connection failed so I could not reply
But I can't add much anymore anyway!
Could be worthwhile not deleting any of these corrupted images as they may be repairable.

most of them were not that important Im keeping the one I have so I can show B&H what is happening and why I want to exchange my brand new camera for another one. Hopefully they wont have any issues with exchanging since I just got it friday and Ive only taken about 500 pictures with it. (weekend vacation pictures shot :() but I have a bigger vacation coming up wed and I want the 20D to go along on that trip so hopefully I can get the exchange done in time :)

Then it can't be a sensor issue, right?

Did you try a different RAW->JPG conversion program?
Or you might provide a link to one of your RAW images so some other user might try to convert it with his software.

Best regards,
Andy

I agree
I had this happen on some of my shots once, when I copied files from a particular HDD partition to an external HDD for back-up.

The originals were still fine, but the copies showed the exact problem above.
Re-copying them solved it.

If you're seeing this on the camera itself (via the LCD) after you've taken the picture, then you've got a problem.

I tried copying them directly from the camera and it seems ok, but if I use my PCMCIA or my USB card reader its all wacky.

Agreed it doesnt seem to be a sensor issue but more of an issue with the data writer in the camera..On 4 different cards now I get similar results in RAW mode. I've tried RAW and Large JPEG as I said Large JPEG Seems fine, but its a much smaller file...

I tried using Camera RAW for Adobe and Canon EOS Viewer and Microsoft RAW Image viewer and all three give the same results, Im going to exchange the camera and go from there I think.

Thanks for all the help guys, thats why I love this place ;)

I'm glad to they replaced the camera. When my 20D was new, I had a couple of images show up like yours. I'm not sure why, but the camera healed itself. 1000s of images later and I haven't had a problem since the first two weeks (the camera is 1 year and 2 months old). :D
