My wedding photos in another photographer's album?

A friend of mine got married a few weeks ago and I was there as a guest. Of course, I had my camera with me and took whatever photos I could without getting in the hired photogs' way.

I saw my friends yesterday and they told me that they were unhappy with the photos that the hired photographers had gave to them. She totally loved the photos that I took and asked if she could use my photos in the album that her hired photographer is supposed to create for her.

I have no problem with her doing that and I even offered to write a release of the photos (for my friends' album only and not for the business' promotional purposes) . . . but my question is: would a professional wedding photographer even want to use another person's photos in their finished product?

Just curious.

Its a great compliment of course (well done) but be careful about the pro.

Can't the addition/final album edit be done after the album is handed over? It would avoid a delicate situation.

Why not just do an album yourself? Or have them order prints from the pro and put some of his and some of yours in the album?

I think they're getting a mounted photo album. It's just too much time and effort for me to do right now without some compensation and I really dont' like charging my friends. that's just me.

Fair call, I don't charge friends either, but I pass on costs if it's significant. Not sure if i'd let me photos go into a pro's album, perhaps i'd give them prints (or pass on cost) but no way i'd pass on digital files.

If I were the hired photogapher, I wouldn't want other people's photos in the album I was giving the client.

I just got word that the hired photog would be willing to use my photos in the album . . . I guess I gotta write a release letter.

Any suggestions on what should I should include in the letter?
