Here's something that I have noticed but not seen mentioned before. In the recent past I have owned and used the 20D and 30D cameras and very much liked them both. I now shoot with the 5D and 1D MkII-N. I have noticed that since going to the new cameras my post processing time has dropped significantly. Probably less than half the time spent before. My question is, does this say something about the IQ right out of the new cameras or is my head just up my arse? If the first is true, then there must be a difference between the 8mp sensor in the 20 and 30D's as compared to the MkII-N. If the latter is true, well then..........

Have you considered the effect of more experience between using the 20D/30D and now using the 5D and 1DM2N?
Although I do note that I get more good pictures from my 1DsMkII then I ever did with my D60 or 10D, I attribute most of my improvement in time to post-process images as being mostly in the experience category. I have learned what software works best for what and have set up actions to speed up my workflow based on the images and most of my time is now spend on just selecting which images to process and then I turn it over to automated processes for the most part.

Add to that the fact my skill at getting a better picture in the first place has improved and I take considerably less time in processing these days.

I would give it about 20% to the better camera, but the the other 80% is more experience.

Just my opinion,

I have definitely experienced this with my 5d, coming from a 10D. I do find that when I go through the same workflow I went through on the 10D I still get better results. I just find that the images, untouched, from the 5D are better than most of the processed images from the 10D.

It really starts to blow my mind when I sharpen and level some of the 5D images. They are awesome.

Longwatcher, I have considered what you say but this seems to have occured with the change in cameras, as opposed to a gradual thing as my skills improved.
