OK, I do see the label on the back, but there is no switch on the side. Does the outer plastic thing have to come off? Because it doesn't look like it does. I'll take a pic of my card, and see what you guys think.

Did you try checking the card on your computer to see what the actual capacity is on that card? Or even try formatting it on the computer? Hopefully someone didn't sell you a "fake" 4G card that I thought I read about someplace.

I did look at the card on my computer. The card is completely blank. Nothing on it. I dont think it would be a fake card, because I purchased it from Best Buy.

SanDisk Response: (04/24/2006 10:55)
Dear John,

Thanks again for calling SanDisk Technical Support. It is our goal to make sure you have all the resources you need to get the most from your product.

In your regards to your last response we want to first apologize for the inconvenience. After doing some research we would like to inform you that you were right, it's a chance that the Compact Flash Card that you have purchased might not have the switch. We have just been informed that the design of the Compact Flash Cards have been changed. The switch have been removed from the newer models. The Compact Flash Card by default would read 4 gigabyte partition, but your device that you are using the Compact Flash Card on have to be able to read FAT32 File Allocation. Again we aplogize for your inconvenience.

If need further assistance contact Sandisk Technical Support at (866)726-3475 or please refer to your eBox anytime to see additional resources from SanDisk.

You can also use this Support Request tool for contacting SanDisk in the future.

Best regards,
Shawn W.

go into the menu options, and one of the options says format. there are usually several categories of options, so you might have to scroll side to side

OK, something doesn't make sense here. If the new cards no longer have the micro-switch installed, then why would they still have the label for the 3 different switch positions?

LOL

I guess what I was really trying to ask is, do the new 4 GB cards still have the switch option labels on them. If so, then shame on SanDIsk for being so sloppy. If not, then it's still a mystery why the OP's card doesn't have a micro-switch on it.

Also, we still don't know why his camera doesn't recognize the card or has that been resolved already?

IIRC SanDisk sources the cards from Toshiba; if Toshiba changed the cards without enough advance notice to SanDisk, and ships them in bulk, SanDisk wouldn't have been able to procure the new labels in time.
