They also expected a thinner body than the EOS cameras have, so adapters aren't economically feasable (the ones that work act as teleconverters or extension tubes in addition to connecting the lens and body). Canon makes one as do several third-parties. In the end, it's really just not worth it (at least for Canon FD lenses) as the image quality is pretty horrible. Plus you'll need to manually focus, meter stopped-down and change apertures manually as well. La Vida Leica!
