hi all,i recieved my 20d this morning and charged the battery put a lense on and turned it on ,first thing was ,when i half pressed the shutter button it just would not focus ,only when i pressed it fully did it focus and then take the shot.
secondly after a couple of times doing just that the camera froze up and the focus indicater light in the view finder stayed on ,when it was not in focus at the point it was directed in.
thirdly,i took the battery out and reinserted it and all seemed fine (working as it should).and i took a couple of pics ,then it froze up again, the same as before(no error message in the lcd).
i took the battery out once again and left it for a while ,when i reinserted the battery and turned it back on the lense just woke up on its own and started to try and focus on its own without touching the shutter button(it was in one shot mode)and then locked up again ,and anything but turning it off just wouldnt work
any ideas,or is it just broke thanks.........

Are you using a brand new lens? Try cleaning the lens contacts and see if that corrects your problem. Sometime, just removing the lens and remounting it is enough to get a good connection between the lens and the camera again.

Looks like it might be time to give Canon service a ring.
