is this allowed? I bought an 580EX from hong kong and i live in the UK. Can i still claim back on this? Cheers

Not sure about UK, but in US, it has to be from a US dealer with a US warranty card.
I would suspect the same for Canon UK, have you checked their rules on the rebate form?
