Advantage of ISO expansion on 20D?

I'll chime in as another who finds 3200 perfectly usable on the 20D. My typical shooting environment forces me there more often than not. Noise has very rarely been an issue--the 20D is simply amazing in that regard & is a large part of why I chose it over a year ago.

Someone said to me that Canon don't include it as standard as many pro photographers don't like to use it unless it's absolutely necessary so by being able to turn it off you can still swith to a more useable high ISO quickly without having to come back one on the wheel each time.

I think it particularly suits live music as in such extreme lighting conditions the grainy effect can really add atmosphere.

I've used it at the Brixton Academy and got some decent results though without something like Noise Ninja I doubt I'd use it for the more usual stuff. Call me self-critical!

If you don't have a noise reduction plugin you can still eliminate a fair amount of noise by selecting one of the colour channels and blurring/despeckle it, without losing much if any detail in the image.
Which channel depends on the noise, try red first.

Hey

I just went on your website. I know I shouldn't really go off topic, but can I suggest that you get some form of gallery system, as a page with 35+ full size images is just overkill. If you havge PHP and imagemagick, pickle gallery will index all the images in a folder and make thumbnails out of them. If not, something like JAlbum will make an HTML gallery.

Nah, thats a staged pic... steel reinforcement to hold up the cars, and a little bit of dry ice to create the smoke effect.... only joking.
