You need to change the way you compress these pics.
They look horrible. ( PLEASE DON"T GET UPSET!)

The reason is they are too small. The 1st pic is 14kb . , the max file size for posting on the forums is 100kb and it is a challenge to get pics under 100kb looking good.

I don't know what software you are using so cannot make suggestions as to settings to use.

Using Elements 4. Have been:
1 Resize to 800 pixels
2 Save to web.
Please advise.

I don't have Elements, but instead of Save to Web, try Save As and choose a compression so that the estimated file size will be a bit under 100KB. Granted I have no idea if this applies to Elements, so feel free to correct me.

OK , I have not used Elements4.
But I do use Photoshop CS. One of the options there is to "save to web"
Once that selection is made , there is a slider on the far right. Adjust that slider to get the file just under 100kb (the forum limit) The file size appears in the bottom left of that window. (Hopefully elements looks similar)

Other method is to save as (jpeg) then use chose compression level.
In CS the levels are 1-12 (1 being maximum compression , 12 being no compression)
Problem there is there can be a big difference between levels eg level 7 may result in 130KB file , level 6 50kb file.

Best to check elements for the "save as" slider. If not someone else wiull advise. I noticed your 2 pics posted with no comments. They really do look bad due to the compression so I wanted to make sure you realised they were destroyed by compression before you got any harsh criticism.

The above advice is absolutely sound - PS Elements is more then capable.

1 Save for Web
2 Preset - save as jpeg
3 set image size new (either hight or width, if the picture is in potrait then set hight, make sure that constrain propotions box is ticked
4 Split windows - left is the original photo could say 12.4M the new (right hand window) could say for example 47.9bites in this case we would need to increase picture quality - aim is get as close to the 100bites as possible
5 In presets - click quality (slide will appear), move the little slider to the right and then release. After a few seconds the new picture (right hand window) will have been modified... check size of the picture in the bottom area of the same window
6 repeat 5 until you get as close as possible to 100 bytes

Hope this helps....

Good luck
