I try to keep a lens on my camera all the time so I can take pictures. I do put the camera in the bag frequently with no lens on it. That's what the plastic cap is for that came on the body. Dave

You never know when a shot might come along and you will need to be ready. I keep mine ready to go at a second's notice here at home as I never know what wildlife will wander through the yard.

Not a stupid question at all. Just leave the lens on whenever you are finished with the camera. There is no reason to take it off. This way you will be ready for shots at any time. If you are going to be transporting the camera and don't need access to it, obviously, you'll probably disassemble and stow it away securely. Canon 5D

No real correct answer here, just what you want. Gallery: http://tomyi.smugmug.com/
