Hello Rob,

Those prices are not bad for getting started; however, I suspect that you are underselling full-time professional photographers who provide similar services in your area. That's probably fine in the short-term while you work to build up your sales pipe-line, but you will want to gradually increase your prices once your schedule fills up. It's better to do that then to compromise on service or quality to accomodate more customers.

We have actually found that letting potential customers know of plans to increase prices for bookings after a specific date can help motivate them to get off of the fence and book a session. You can see a current example of that on our website (external link) (assuming that you look before July 1st, 2006).

Hope this helps.

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply and advice. I forgot to mention I am planning on using these prices to build up custom then revise them for Jan 07

Regards

Rob

Yes Rob, I also think you are underselling yourself - and may find it difficult to increase to a reasonable level later. The prices you quote for the smaller print sizes especially, are waaaay too low. For example, your 7x5 price should be AT LEAST what you are charging for the 10x8. If people only want to pay 15p for a print, they should go to a photo booth.
