Got my 30D and grip today. Once I slapped a CF in there, popped a couple shots, and pressed playback, that's all I could say..."Daaayumm!!"
Man...for me, this was absolutely worth the upgrade from the 20D. I'd have paid that much just for the screen, to be honest. To be able to tell that much better if I made focus or not, or to get a better idea of "the big picture", so to speak. Plus, the menu is just huge.
I also love being able to shoot at ISO 1000 and 1250, etc. I hated having to jump from 800 to 1600. It was like, do I want a little noise, or a ton? Now I can go in between, and it's lovely. I like the ISO in the viewfinder, too. Now I don't have to take my eye off the viewfinder for anything while I'm shooting.
I'm gettin' the hang of the Picture Styles...I'd like to get those other ones like "Emerald" and such. That one seemed nice. Where do I get them? On the same topic, does anyone like to change the "preset" ones' settings to something they feel is "better"?
I love not having to press the AF select button and turn the quick control dial the right way to get an AF point selected. Now I just jiggle the joystick to whichever one I want.
Love it!
Last thing I can think of is that some of my shots do seem to be a bit sharper, and the focus seems a tad more accurate. Love the spot-metering, too. Very nice addition. Every camera should have that.
