I was afraid that would be the answer! I was thinking I'd sell my prime, to help deflect the initial costs of the 24-70 (because I need the zoom capabilities)...but now I might just bite the bullet and do both....

Honestly, it's fine. Just because the prime is a bit better doesn't mean the zoom sucks. Once you reach a level of acceptable sharpness, you're just splitting hairs.

WOW, you convinced me to be happy with my 24-70L ;)

I don't think it took my picture to convince you of that. :D

Goofing off at the Kentucky State fair. My first day walking around with the lens on my new 5D Mark II and good lord it was a huuuuuuuuuuge change from my 50D + 50mm 1.4. It is so ridiculously crisp and vibrant I am extremely pleased.

Canon 5D Mark II, 24-70mm 2.8L , 50mm f1.4, 70-300mm EF USM f4/5.6, 100mm f/2.8 macro, other goodies.

I usually shoot people with my brick, but it also works great for little critters and flowers.

I usually shoot between f/2.8 and f/4 (portraits and stuff), but I tried out f/6.3 for a few shots and was BLOWN AWAY by the sharpness. I really need to shoot more landscapes!
