It seems to be a big cultural difference that we have the right to own handguns and even machine guns if you fill out the right paperwork compared to the rest of the world. Many Americans also choose not to own any guns at all. Freedom is a great thing!

I'm happier to shoot with my 7D though, It cost so so so much less each time I use it.

It looks like you weren't wearing a hood...was there a filter attached?

Yes it had a filter, just the Cokin P series. I should've taken it off and used the hood for the above shot really. I haven't done much landscape so was trying filters out (trying to get the sun in the shot but failed miserably!). So in fairness not an actual limitation of the lens as such, just a limitation of the photographer! Live and learn :D

Yeah, I was thinking there was too much, and not what I'd consider "normal", even without the hood, and a filter is the most likely culprit with such shots.

Not that the 24-70 can't get glare, here's an example of some:

I toned it down some:):

Yes of course, I've got plenty of shots from later on down at the beach with ugly glare from to the filter.

Nice shot, I would've probably binned that photo but you've got it to come up lovely!

This was the sort of shot I was going for (composition not too good here though) but I wasn't happy with the colours at all. Things come out all "dirty" with the cokin filter. I might try out some Lee filters to see if it's the filter or the user!

Hi all!

I'm new on this forum and I started searching a sharper lens for my new EOS 550D (rebel T2i).
I looked down all the beatiful photos of this long interesting thread and, in the end, I'm positively really very amazed of this 24-70 lens.
Oh, guys! I know that EOS 550D isn't the best for this kind of lens, don't hit me, but this is the kind of sharpness i'm looking for, with which I want replace the bad cheap EF 18-55 IS.
So, if possible, does anyone could show me some shots made with this lens mounted on a EOS 550D? I would be very grateful.
Thank you and forgive my bad english.

Heh! Thanks Julian -- I have this habit with 'Vettes (a few other cars as well) that if I see one parked, no matter what the lighting or setting, I want to take pictures from all kinds of angles, so I figured I'd play with the sun here:)!

it doesn't matter which body you have the lens on. Heck, your 550D, which I believe is the Rebel T2i (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), has some nicer features than my 50D :-)

you can always sell the 18-55 IS lens for $80-90 too to help fund your 24-70.
