If anyone ever asks me for a referral you will be at the top of the list. I was thinking the same, I'm always game for a photo outing as long as the schedule works. Sundays are my best days, let me know anytime.

I'm in Mexico the next two Sundays then it's the wife's birthday. I have a couple of bookings in September but might be able to work around them. I'll figure something out and post a call out into the Vancouver Street thread. It needs a little revival. :)

It's so funny... go to the Grand Canyon, and they are not afraid... they are so used to people giving handouts, that they are actually a little aggressive... especially if they think you have food.

He was so curious about the lens... I was shocked when he crawled right up to the lens hood.. I had framed him a little further away, when he came toward me, and didn't stop... I was afraid he would scratch my lens with his claws... haha...

Anyway... I cut off his foot in the frame due to his advances.. lol.. It made a fun shot anyway, so I'm not complaining.

My schedule will change a bit in September. So don't hold me to sundays. I'm flexible and will make it happen.

We had an impromptu photoshoot yesterday at a family dinner. Luckily for me, I brought my camera case (Storm im2600) with me. I also brought a 4'-9' boom and a small 32" eclipse umbrella.

We decided to light this at 10:30pm, and by that time, it was already pitch black in their backyard.

I used 2 Nikon SB28s (One broke on that night) for this shot. One was on a VAL (voice activated lightstand) boomed over the subjects, and the other was a bare flash (set at 17mm) lighting the entire background.

Both lights metered at a 1:1 ratio and I was quite pleased with the end result.

The 24-70 proved to be a versatile lens, and it definitely helped me out in this shot. I could have used my other primes, but when i really need a run/gun style of shooting, the 24-70 is like none other.

Is it me or is the depth of field a little too shallow and the back two people are a little out of focus?
How much did your VAL cost ? Looks like a foreign model you got there. How is the cost of a foreign model over a domestic one? Was it hard to program your VAL to your voice commands?

I like the way you lite this shot. I also like the way you took a behind the scene shot. Thanks for sharing.

Ay Hombe !
