planning to upgrade to a used 5D classic, so looking out for this lens to replace my 17-55. Will (5D + this lens) this be a too heavy combination to carry as walkaround?

Heh! It's really not that heavy, but of course it depends on what you prefer. I actually have often switched between this lens and the 24-105, which is lighter, and I enjoy both combinations and honestly can't tell you I have a solid preference.

It's not so much of a weight issue as a balance issue. I truly prefer to use the 24-70 on a 1D series body, however I still use it on my 5DmkII all the time. You won't regret it, I still stand by the statement that if I could only have one lens this would be it.

I like LV stuff and I don't deny that I own a couple of there wallets but, those shoes are ugly.:) I used to be into all that brand name stuff but, it sure gets expensive. I still have a bunch of Gucci, Prada, and all that stuff that I don't use anymore. I guess I outgrew being brand conscious. I'm just a Lacoste and RL kind of dude. :)
