I gave my son my 40D and a couple of lenses for his birthday. Now I'm trying to explain some of the basics of the art. Although he is a fast learner, depth of field and focal length is a bit more challenging. We took several photos with evrything from 10mm to 300mm. He really liked my 24-70(no can steal from me!) for the ability to capture subjects without too much distortion or compression from long or short focal lengths. The thing he liked about 300mm was the bokeh, but not getting enough with the 24-70 in the image below. So now we are into the dark side of creating the effect of the 300's bokeh with gassian blur. The before and after shots of his car are the result of a couple of hours at the "blackboard". I'm hiding the 24-70 while he's home from college. :)

sounds like a great relationship builder father/son time... hope he catches the passion... great job on the blur :)

The water and plastic cutlery are Kirkland. That's Costco's house brand.

Upper antelope Canyon. It's near Page AZ. In summer, around 11AM you have direct sun beam. Lower antelope Canyon is great as well but no sunbeam.
