On the road today, visited a quiet place for lunch (Hickey Creek) and saw a roo family.

Used the 70-200mmm and wished I had a 300mm L or a 1.4 extender... they let me get some grab shots before they quickly excused themselves.

Thx guys, the camera bag was there... and I thought "Will I or won't I?"... and then I thought "well even if they are grab shots they will be better than the shots I don't take" so I swung into action.

In hindsight, if I had done the 'right' thing and used my monopod, because it has twist grips/adjusters (which need a few seconds to set up) I would have no usuable shots because of the short time the roos were close enough.

The Joey hangs around in the pouch for 9 months all up. In the last weeks it spends more and more time outside the pouch.

Thx Eric.

Gotta smile. My boy just asked "Does the Joey poo in there and how is it cleaned out?"

:) Anyone ever looked in a pouch?

Maybe I'll search Roogle, the kangaroo Google. Stay tuned.

Nice series.
"Does the Joey poo in there and how is it cleaned out?". Yes, and the mother cleans the pouch out.

It was on business 16 years ago in Sydney and a day trip to Melbourne. No pictures I'm afraid. I was just there 5 days or so and will always remember it! I got to take a ferry from Sydney to the beach area and we had lunch out there and spent some time on the beach. Then we took the ferry back to Sydney.

I would have loved to have spent some time down there as a tourist but I only had a weekend. I do remember how beautiful it was even though it was winter. July if I remember.

Johnny you went to Manly beach, a great ferry ride. I went there for 2 days on my honeymoon and I keep going back whenever I get the chance. Only having a weekend to see Sydney is pretty unfortunate. You'll be back one day I'm sure.
