Not sure where to post this.

I am planning on taking my camera with me to my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary celebration to take pictures for them. I have never before traveled on an airplane and was wondering what others have done with there camera and tripod (check them under the airplane, carry on, etc.). Please let me know thanks.

Camera goes with me. Tripod can sometimes be placed at the front of the plane in the "odd items" storage right by the front door/cockpit.

My camera bag is a packpack so it isn't a big deal.

When I travel far and with all my gear, I break out the pelican case for everything. tripod still doesn't fit, so I usually wrap it up and put it in the fragile bin. You see wheelchairs, strollers, golfclubs etc. in this checked baggage.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

Make sure you take your camera and lenses with you as carry on, you don't want those handlers throwing it around. If you have to check anything make it the tripod.

Make sure you have a lens attached and batteries in it, they will most likely make you turn it on. If you have spare lenses, they'll make you take off the caps and look through it... sometimes its a PITA

if you have alot of expensive gear i recommand a pelican case..... even if the plane crashes(hope not) the case prob would suvive. ofcaseu you would suvive too i sinsery hope soo.... then if you don't the picture in the cam would be a timeless art piece by a past away artist discovered only after death,,, isn't it the way it always goes.......????? :)

p.s i alway carry on the plane too..it's only way to go.....

Don't know if this is a universal term , but I have heard that the name given to the handlers is "throwers" :)
