your manual gives pretty good defintions and exampleson when to use what setting.. i'd get your camera out and go through them one at a time. with the manual as a guide..

Once you've had a read, and shot some test shots, you will quickly pick it up.!

Remember - it costs nothing to shoot in digital - so get to it!:)

Use the green square box. It's all you need. ;)
To venture further, read the manual ya.

Ugh, no. Full auto mode isn't all you need because you won't learn anything by having the camera do everything for you. Use the creative modes and learn by your mistakes.

First, you need to make sure you understand what are "shutter speed" and "aperture". Only after you've understood those concepts can you begin to understand the exposure modes - there's no shortcuts here.
Try google with keywords "shutter speed aperture" (without the quotes). Here's one of the search results:

agree with you don't use the green box.. first off your results will be under par. and it will take you longer to understand your camera and ultimately get the results you're wanting.. I suggest starting with AV set your ISO.. if your outside with lots of light 100 or 200 will be fine, if inside start with 800.. have fun, keep in mind that your camera is pretty complex it's not a point and shoot. good luck...

You just wasted money on everything if that's all you'll stick to. There are better auto modes that include more user control than that.

AV, TV are a good example of that. And if you want full control, M is where its at.
