Received my replacement CF card from Sandisk yesterday. Tested it out and NO problems. I must say that their warranty is quite good and their service quite thorough.

They paid for the postage for me to return my faulty CF card and they popped a replacement in the mail as soon as they received the faulty one.

Five year warranty is GREAT!

According to the warranty info that came with my sandisk ultra 512mb they state it's a lifetime warranty not just 5 years. Which is even better.

Updates:
I sent my 512 Ultra back to Sandisk and I received and tested the new Ultra II today. No problem with this new one. I guess they ran out of Ultra I so they sent me the Ultra II as a replacement. (Free shipping round trips). Great replacement service!

I have two Sandisk Ultra 512 MB CF cards that I use in a G3. I get a CF error notice after I shoot some number of photos. It is not a consistent number, today I shot 59 all of which are readable. Number 60 resulted in the indictation of a CF error (there is an entry on the CF for the file but it 's file property indictaes zero length). The card is about 25% full. This has occured repeatedly on both cards. I always format in the camera.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks to all who replied to my original request. For your information, I followed up with customer service at Sandisk via email and they were very accomodating. After a request to send the card coding information from the side of the cards they replaced both. The new ones seem to work fine.

Reading all these comments does surprise me a lot. It seems as if it happens quite often.

I myself recently had this problem with my Sandisk (non-ultra) CF-Card. Have been using it already for quite some time always taking around 50 to 60 photos maximum.

The other day i made 89 shots. When it came to 90 i all of a sudden had a CF-Error message on the LCD of my G5. :eyes Lucky me having spare cards with me... no problem.

Back home i could´nt download directly from the camera. So i had to use my CF-card reader. Worked fine with it (thank god)!

Brought the defect card to the store where i bought it and got it exchanged for a new one. This one (knock on wood) works fine now. :)

Regards
Ed

Just a suggestion.
Everyone should test their new cards right away. (Using RAW mode will save some time)

FYI... As a 3rd card, I just ordered a Kingston 512 Type I CF Card from DELL and it only cost $105.23, included Free shipping and discount. Not bad!

I have a Sandisk 512 MB, Kodak CX6445, and an Easyshare Dock.

I have experienced problems transferring files only twice.

Once when I tried to use my computer's built in card reader and just today when using my dock and the Kodak Easyshare software.

Today, when I tried to transfer the photos, the software indicated that there were 21 pictures, but only showed 5 and two were only partially shown (mostly blocked out).

I then tried to put the card in my computer's card reader and it said that the files/card were corrupted.

I then unprotected the 21 files as I had protected them to delete other files but not them.

I then re-booted my computer, turned off all other programs, including Norton Antivirus and Microsoft Anti-Spyware.

I then put the disk back in my camera dock and this time all 21 pictures came up just fine.

So....I am not sure if it was just the rebooting, turning of the anti virus/spyware software, unprotecting them, or a combination of any of these, but I was able to get all of my photos.

I normally don't have problems transferring files from my camera, but it could have something to do with the fact that I had protected the 21 files, then deleted all of the other ones (from my last transfer), then tried to transfer the protected files.

Anyway, I am glad that I got all the files off the disk.

Oh, and lastly, the fact that I could review all of the pictures on my camera, even though my computer said they were corrupted, lead be to believe that they were still there and that there was a solution.

My advice, try doing any or all of the steps I did before deleting the files or re-formatting your card.

I also have a G3 and am just about to send my 5th cf card back to the supplier. It is an Integral. In fact I am sending 2 back - one I cannot read at all the the other has a couple if faults on 2 images. They are only half there, the remainder of the image is black.

These Integral cf cards are replacements for previous cards that have 'Fried'. I have lost images of a Mediterranean Cruise, Venice, A Christmas Spectacular and finally our trip to Australia - all my pics with the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Bridge, kangaroos in the wild and crocodiles jumping out of the water. I just feel I can't rely on the camera. As soon as I removed the card, I put a new one in, it performs OK. It seems to happen if I spend time focusing, or use the flash and the last time I had done a movie of the crocodiles. I wonder if the camera gets too got and the compact flash card just isn't robust enough.

I sent my camera back to Canon and they checked it out and said there was nothing wrong with it. They said that they recommended SANDISK CF cards. I was just going to buy some until I read the above posts.

Just thought I'd let you know that it isn't only Sandisk. BTW, the supplier of the cards could not retrieve my photos either.
