Ok, I'm moving to a 20D from my 10D for various reasons, (one of which that since the release of the 30D, secondhand 20D prices have fallen :)).

Anyway - I was wondering - on the 10D there is a switch to lock the control dial on the back. In the dpreview review of the 20D (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos20d/page3.asp (external link) ) it states

"Canon has combined the power switch and the quick control dial lock to a single switch."

Surely, that just means the control dial is locked when the camera is turned off? Well, it would be anyway, cos it's turned off, so the dial would do nothing anyway, or am I being simple, and it's a 3 position switch?

Cheers Carzee - it's on its way from the US, (actually right now Customs and Excise are probably doing their thing - working out how much I should pay them).

seeing how well it bounces you mean ;)

I never have it switched off - because I tend to use EC a fair bit - which can be a pain as I'm left-eyed and hence nose tends to get in the way - my earlier post was semi-serious! I thoink it only applies in certain modes too - I think its always on in Manual

Isn't that the best way?

Haha! I hope not, but you're probably right! I realised that it was semi-serious - why they have the option of turning the dial off. I always leave it turned on - I often tweak EC, and also change ISO pretty regularly.

The ranks of 10D owners reduces once more. They are so nice. Why don't you keep it -2 bodies is good, heavy on the ol' neck, but versatile!

You'll love the 20d :) How much did you get it for? I recently took advantage of the lower 20d prices myself.

Carzee - paypal me the money to pay for the 20D and I'll gladly keep the 10D - I really do love it, and would love to keep it, but I just don't have the finances :(.

Red Hot Sheep - got it from a stateside FM'er - let's just see if I'm lucky and HM Customs & Excise don't notice it (although since the full value is on the package as it was insured, I doubt it!)
