Tripod with boom arm?

I have been looking around on some sites and I cant seem to find exactly what I want. Basiclly I want a tripod that has a boom arm that comes off the head so I can put my camera on that to take shots pointing up at my subject. Someone help me please.

If you already have a decent tripod you might look at the Photek boom arm which does what you are looking for.

Pinot, have you used this boom arm? It does look like a good idea for macro shooting. I would imagine the head you mount it to would have to be quite strong.

No, I have not used this arm myself. But it looks like a useful alternative to the purchase of a complete boom and stand unit.

I think you might be discounting the effectiveness of a counter weight.
Most of the standard boom arms (using some sort of counterweight), hold monolights, which are much heavier than a camera, on a pretty simple type of boom clamp. So I don't think that would be an issue.

I have an (extremely) old Spiratone "Versatile" (re-badged Velbon Grounder, IIRC) with a pivoting center column to do just that and I can say it does work pretty well for appropriate situations. I've used it as a copy stand, among other things.
