I'm still a bit new to understanding what mounts are for what...

but i was interested in getting a Macro lens. and this one says it has a EF mount. i'm not sure but i thought the 20D had to have EOS on the lens?

here is the link to the lens.

You should understand that the focal length of a macro lens determines how close you have to be to an object to render it in your frame. For example, you might have to work 50mm from an insect with a 50mm macro, vs. shooting from 100mm from the inselt with a 100mm macro lens. However, shooting distance is not the only determinant in choosing macro lenses, because how close you can focus will be dependent upon the lens design, and you might be able to fill the frame with a larger image of the insect with one lens but not the other (unless you resort to using extension tubes to permit you to focus closer with that lens)

<<can you give me an example, this i have not seen yet. still new to the macro world.>>

Consider this...ALL LENSES focus closer by moving some or all the optical elements farther than the focal plane, plain and simple. Whether it is the focusing threads in the mechanism built into the lens, or an extension tube or an exteions bellows, ALL of them are simply moving optics farther from the focal plane. So if you have any lens and want to to focus closer than it normall can, you move it farter from the focal plane via placement of the lens on an extension tube or bellows.
