IanC_UK Senior Member  648 posts Joined Jul 2005 Location: Northampton, UK More info | May 28, 2006 04:37 | #8 Very nice shots, only slightly negative comment (dont take it too harshly though, they are still nice pictures) is maybe next time if its as bright, drop the exposure compensation down a stop or maybe more, there are a couple of blown out highlights on some of them (the beak area of 1 and 2, the alligator/crocodile, and the Chimpanzee picture mainly), and it loses some of the detail. Main thing to remember its easier to recover a picture if its a little dark than blown out. Keep an eye on the histogram and watch for peaks too far to either end of the scale these should (nearly always, sometimes they are desirable) be avoided if possible.

Not sure how you do that on a 350D but if you have the manual its definitely worth a read through. I did shoot in RAW so I think I may be able to fix them a little. Its the first time I have shot in raw and I have not tweaked them too much Cheers

like i said if you can check the manual and use the exposure compensation, drop it down a stop to a stop and a half, it will make the picture darker (almost like a polariser but wont get rid of reflections) and then a minor tweak in PS on levels etc and it will bring them back, unfortunatley if its burned out its never as easy to recover, still possible but some of the detail gets lost !
