Let's see, in the old film days, 3971/24x$6.. you just spent about $992 my friend :)

I shot about 500 on my 20D, but spent countless hours on the computer, since I just started to shoot RAW.

When I got my XT about this time last year, I shot probably 500 or so the first day. It was my first slr period, and I had some fun. Got my first 20D and popped out about 200 the first day, as it was a fun upgrade from the XT. Got the second 20D, and added 7 clicks to it, just to test it out. Got my 30D wednesday, and I put 50 on it. About 20 between thursday and yesterday.

I think ronald has a serious case of the "wants" - your possibly the most consumerist member here...

And therefore you've already hit the breakeven point for the XT ;)

I did the calculations for the cheapest film, cheapest processing and cheapest printing.. no, not even printing. I'd ask them to scan them to CD for me, instead of prints (cheaper). It would only take around 3K frames for my XT to break even and it did that in two months. There was a point where I was shooting around 400 frames a week!

And cheap film really IS cheap for a reason.. Velvia costs more than 2X of the supermarket stuff, for a reason..

Shoot until your heart is content. Buying something and then worrying if you are going to wear it out is nonsense. If your camera dies on you, you just send it in for repair. If it is under warranty period, they just fix it. If you are out of warranty, they give you an estimate of repair costs and you can decide if you wish to repair or replace it...or just chalk it up to experience. 100,000 shots is quite a few when you start thinking about it and then it is just an estimate.
