Ripped from another site:

Canon EF 70-200 MM F/2.8 L IS (Yes, IS)
Dell Part #: A0166172 Manufacturer Part #: 7042A002

Be sure to mention the 10% off on all digital cameras & accessories. This brings the price down to $1169.10
(Free S&H)
They do charge tax to some states (FYI: CA is not one of them)

They also carry the Canon EF 17-40 MM F/4 USM
Dell Part #: A0166173 Manufacturer Part #: 8806A002

Dell: 1(800)915-DELL

I just called Dell and spoke to Matt extension 82509. He says the 70-200 f/2.8L IS is the biggest L they have, but he is working on extending what they sell. They are not listed on the web site, he says, because Dell can sell more than Canon can produce. And yes, the 10% discount is for the asking.

I would like one.

But I don't have money. I should let others grab it and have no grudge.

OMG!! That is great!! I love Dell, and now, well they are really in a new game and I for one will get all my lenses from them if they offer them.

What other lenses Dell have? I want the 180mm Macro, I wonder if they have that one too for a good price.

Dell, is going to make B&H very unhappy...LOL

Gentlemen,

This is unbelievable...I was about to order from B&H when I just decided to look at the Forum...just a habiit...Looked at the post and did not believe my eyes. Called Matt and what do you know...it is 100% true.

Just purchased the 70-200L IS for 1169+7% florida sales tax for a total of $1250. FREE SHIPPING. Saving of over $500!!!!!!!!!

In addition I placed an order for the 10D. With the 10% off I snapped it up for $1349 + 7% florida tax.

They currently do not sell the 24-70L but will do so in the near future.

They are selling the 17-40L for 696.56 with the 10% discount.

Good Luck.

I think people should have a little consideration for those poor unfortunate people that just bought a 70-200 2.8L IS last week and not mention stuff like this where we'll see it. It could cause scares you know. And for gosh sakes, don't let the wife see it or the scares will be worse.

;D

I do wish I had known about this last week though. I got mine last Friday from B&H. Oh well, that's the way it usually goes. I'll know to check next time to see if they have the 100-400 lens.

Hello again....

I am enjoying this forum quite a bit and I thank everyone who has taken the time to respond to my posts.

Okay, this sounds like a real deal.... is this too good to pass up for a real newbie? My eventual uses for the 10D will be portrait photography - and down the line some concert photography (rock/pop).

Do I need this lens and is this such a good deal I have to get it even though I don't have the 10D yet? Or is this too much lens too fast for a newbie?

It is an "L" glass, which I take is FAR superior?

I'm going to take some photography courses as I know my knowledtge is VERY limited at the moment - but I learn fast when I'm excited about something and photography is exciting me.

Holly

It looks like Stephane got ripped off, I ordered and I paid 1169.10$ I saved an extra 59 cents!

Seriously. This is amazing. I was planning to buy it in a few months but at that price it's a no brainer.

Does anyone know if there's a place on the net to find what equipment they sell or do we have to call?

-Thanks for the tip Stephane, and thanks for this forum!

About the PhantomsGirlfriend question. This is a great deal, I don't know if it will last. If you can afford it, I would say go for it. This is a great lens for portrait if you don't mind being a bit far from your model. Also some models are intimidated by big lenses. For concerts, the 2.8 combined with the IS will allow you to do great close up shots. Make sure you're allowed to take pictues because you're sure to get noticed with that lens. If you change your mind an want to sell it, you can probably sell it for more than you paid on ebay...

Thanks!

I have a Dell account with open credit line available - so maybe I should get this.

Yes, I know on concerts! I would have permission though. (I have taken concert shots before - but had to use my Olympus 750 C because of regulations and got GREAT shots...although I only got about 40 that were truly good enough to sell).

Okay...so maybe this lens and then one that is better for portraits like the one that was reommended to me in the Newbie topic.

I'll see if I can fight for that 10 cents...LOL!

Holly
