They fit It's what I use.
But you can't bounce in the portrait position as they don't rotate.
You have to use a bracket and off camera shoe cord, to do this. at a minimum cost of £40

Why would you wan't to use one when you have a 430 ex in your kit.

You can't use them wirelessly with other Canon flashes either but I don't think that would bother you.

The lack of been able to bounce flash though in portrait shots would be a major restriction for me. After all the main reason to have an external flash for you would be indoor people shots the majority of which you would be better off taking in portrait style.

All readers please note: when Terry replied, OP was asking about the 380EX, which doesn't rotate. OP subsequently edited the post to say 550EX, which does.

That said, for best results you should try to center the flash over the lens in whatever orientation you're using. So a bracket and off camera cord are still advisable for serious flash work.

Absolutely, the 550EX will work well with the G6.

The 550EX rocks with the G6 - a great accessory is the external battery pack Canon sells for it, uses 6 AA cells, very fast recycling times and you can shoot forever witbout changing batteries. I also use the 550EX on my EOS film cameras, works like a champ.
