Got this the other morning just before the sun was about to burst above the tree line (creating a nice halo effect). It was a beautiful morning and the birds were going crazy with song. Just beyond the glassy reflection, the pond is covered with lily pads and other swampy foliage. Two exposures combined using the 17-40L.

Well, so far you've seen two images...this one and the latest one in the barn thread. So far I think I'm happy with it, but I'm unsure about how I like the quality when it comes to close ups. I took a bunch of a humming bird pictures yesterday (camera was about three feet from the feeder) and I struggled with the lighting, even though it was a sunny day. Maybe I need to tinker with the settings a little more to find the secret to shooting objects up close. Anyway, I think I'm going to like it. I can't wait for some good sunset opportunities to really test it out.

Thanks, guys. :-D

Nice JT. I like your photo for its simplicity and blue theme.

And Dimitri is definately one of the ones to pick up advice on bird shots :)

The only advice I have is buy a longer lens ;) I wouldn't even attempt wildlife shots with my 17-40

Here's a wider one, another combo of two exposures:
