Just upgraded from 10D to 30D yesterday, and it's awesome! Some of the little things really amaze me, like instant on, large lcd, etc.

Anyway, I'm having a bit of a proble with the Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software. Simply put, everytime I open it and try select a photo to edit, I lose the program with the message "DPP Viewer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". Anyone else have this problem and know a fix?

Not sure if this is the right forum, or not. Hope so.

I tried the reinstall twice now...no cigar. Any other ideas?

Is this the version that came with the 10D or 30D?

Did you completely add remove the DPP before re-installing?

Yes, I did. I've just received an email from Canon with their solution. Will give it a try and report back.

Thanks for your help.

Tom

I was unable to get this problem resolved using Canon's email support. However, when the phone support opened on Tuesday (Monday was a holiday) I was able to be walked through it on one call. We had to get into the registry on my computer, delete some entries and then get permissions on the adminstrator thingy. All in all, it was fixed and is operating now.

Now, I've got to figure out where it is best to start, etc.

Hi there

The problem happens when you remove a folder and DPP keeps a reference to it. It is a very annoying problem since uninstalling the software doesn't remove the registry entries.

My suggestion is go to the options menu and indicate that you always want to start DPP in the same location (instead of 'remembering' the last folder you were). I suggest you set your root directory or something that will never change.

Leo.
