I recently attended a Kenny Chesney concert with my 20D and had a 70-300 lens. I was taking pictures of Sugarland and Derks Bentley when a person from Kenny Chesney's staff tapped me and said that I can't use my camera because it has a zoom lens I told him I would keep it at 28mm and he said no and if I see you using it again it will be taken away.

Being a newbee of taking photo's at concerts I was very upset. Along with being a very big fan of Kenny Chesney. I will be going to another one of his concerts and I am very nervous now taking pictures. I did go to one of his concerts last year with a 100-400mm lens and there wasn't a problem.

On his tickets and web site it says no recording or video cameras. I walked passed four different people before getting to my seat and nothing was said to me. Everyone around me were snapping picture with their P&S I was soooo upset :(

Most allow point and shoots but not detachable lenses. That's what the venues mostly say. They should have stopped you at the gate with that camera but at times things get in. At least it sounds like they weren't a jerk about it. I've heard horror stories.

I have some wonderful images of Sugarland and Dierks Bentley at little venues just as they were getting famous! :-) Somehow the Chesney's boy got past me!

Sometimes it is the venue. Sometimes it is the tour manager. Sometimes it is the label. Sometimes it is management. These things change. Everyone is trying to control some niche so that they can make a buck or two off the coattails of the artists, and I can assure you that they don't mind at all that you are upset!
