This is J.J., who I think is a lab. Or so I've been told... He might be somewhat muttish.

It is my ex-landlord's dog whom I still occasionally babysit as the dog is sweeter than pie and we love spending time with him. I can only hope that someday when we get our own dogs, they will be as good natured as JJ.

The first one appears to have something of a blue cast. I'm not sure if this is a flaw or merely a product of the lighting (was taken in the shade, as opposed to more-or-less direct sunlight.

Great looking shots of a beautiful dog, nice work. did you shoot in JPEG or RAW. If you shot in raw you could fix the blue cast easily, but its not that big a deal, still looks great

JJ looks like a lab to me. I think #2 is a great shot.

Good looking dog. It seems he might be a lab mix IMHO. He is a little small framed. Meh, it doesn't really matter. He is loved, appears happy, and has a lot of friends I bet.

I definitely see some rottweiler (or maybe even pittbull) in that first pic. We have a couple rottie/lab crosses who come into my work (holistic pet food store) and the rottie in them is both very subtle.

Great focus on the second pic.

Nice series!

I agree with the lab/pit or lab/rottweiler assessment. That head has some very distinct non-lab features.

Hi there,

I like the blueish shot.

Lab x Staffordshire Bull Terrier would be my assessment.... too small for a Lab, not bulky enough for a Pitbull/Amstaff type and way too small to be a Rottweiler x Lab (both larger, solid framed breeds). He's gorgeous whatever mix he is. :)

Thanks for the comments everyone... I should note that his muzzle was stunted somewhat at a very young age when he was involved in some kind of accident. The small bump behind his nose represents another half inch or so of snout that should've been.

It's the flaps around the mouth, eyes and ears (those are NOT labrador ears) that say rottie or pitt.

Whatever cross this dog is, he's beautiful.

I'm going with Lab/Pit. The ears on a (correct) rottweiler are much more similar to Lab ears, I think. Pits have the smaller, more erect ears. The face tends more toward the pit, too, IMO. Also, the mottled tounge (sp?) would make me think more pit (or do labs have some black on the tounges?). Finally, I should think you're likely to get at least indications of tan points on a rott cross. I could very well be wrong, though. Very cute, none the less.

Nice shots. I think it's a lab/bull terrier.
