So recently I was approached by my High School Musical Theater teacher to create a collage of photos from our spring musical. Well, I sat for two days at my photography teacher's computer (he photographed the dress rehearsals) picking and copying photos. For the past week-ish I have been sitting working on this thing. The bottom-right corner is not quite complete and the title font/color is not set in stone, but otherwise it's near done. I shrunk the image so that viewing it at 100% would be the same as what it's going to be printed as. Comments and critiques are welcome. Here's the photo: http://community.webshots.com …2951514950091545562oocjzl (external link) I apologize for the crime, but the photos were taken with a Nikon D70 at ISO 1600 on the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8;)
Thanks,
Reed

It is a little hard to see because it is so small. I would consider a different color for the text ... since most of the images are earth-tonish I would consider an earth tone. I would also consider putting a thin border around each image ... square images that simply run together don't have the snap that those with borders do ... I would use white or some contrasting earth tone to the image. I shot with Nikon for years ... why apologize? I don't!

I'll look into the borders to see what I can come up with. The apology is because this is a Canon forum. I agree, though, Nikon's not bad at all.

Looks great. Maybe center the text? Another colour might be better as dwight suggests but I don't mind the blue - it certainly stands out. Other than that I think it looks perfect. The pictures look great (although it is a little hard to tell!).

The collage looks great and will probably look ever greater with the suggestions above. The only thing I might add is to put the blue photo, the one at the bottom right hand corner, right below the center photo, as these two would go together more coherently and balanced.

Thanks for the input, guys. I showed what I had to my Musical Theater teacher today and she was very pleased, even though it was not quite done. With only a slight modification of the text (added "High School" after the school name) I think I'm going to keep it the same color. For me it just seems to give it more pop, as well as the fact that that blue is close to the color of the T-shirts we got this year for the revue. I did try to center the text a bit more but did not want to rework lots of the images, so I was limited in how much I could move it. As for the borders, I decided to go halfway and make one big border around the whole thing. My photography teacher helped with that aspect as I still have not discovered all the ways to use photoshop, so the only way I know to make a border is to add a layer that is slightly larger than the layer I'm working on. Anyhow, thanks again for the help.
